Single ply is a complete roofing system which is strong and flexible. It is composed of predominantly synthetic polymer with a thickness in the range of 1.1mm to +2mm. Some single ply products are homogeneous, whilst others are reinforced with glass fibre or polyester. The single ply membrane is installed from the roll and is sealed at the joints providing a continuous waterproofing layer.
Single Ply is installed using the traditional hot air welding technique, whereby side laps are welded and mechanical fastenings or adhesive bondings are used to provide a durable, robust solution. The manner in which single ply is installed makes it resilient to the natural elements, biological waste and air pollution whilst providing excellent fire resistance.
Single ply membrane is a lightweight solution, typically needing 2-3kg/m2, bringing economical benefits when considered in the early stages of an installation.
Single ply is installed using the traditional method of welding side laps with hot air, eliminating the need for naked flames, thus removing fire-related health and safety concerns.
Due to its thermal insulation, single ply membrane reduces carbon emissions whilst its top coating protects against air pollution and biological waste.
Single ply membrane has a BBA life expectancy exceeding 40 years for PVC and 25 years for FPO. Due to it's reinforcement, single ply does not shrink or lose shape over time.
Single ply membrane requires no roof finishes to be applied. This reduces the amount of site deliveries and the need for tying up expensive lifting resources.
Due to its simple nature, and relatively few components, single ply can be installed quickly and efficiently, minimising impact on project program deadlines.
